Larry Wright was honored by the Boy Scouts of America, National Capital Area Council, Zekiah District and given the 2009 Good Scout Award for his leadership and work in the community as well as his dedication to scouting in Charles County. Larry is a Vice President at Maryland Bank and Trust but you see that his heart is in Scouting. He was kind enough to ask me to be Master of Ceremonies for the evening and it was a pleasure to see the commitment that “Scouts” has to Charles County.

Today the Mt. Hope/Nanjemoy Elementary School visited Annapolis. I got a chance to meet with two bus loads of children who had questions concerning the political process. I truly enjoy these meetings with Charles County children and hope more schools can schedule a trip here during the school year.

The Waldorf Rotary asked me to attend their meeting today and give them an update on legislation passed in the 2009 Session. Wade Compton and his group are always gracious and very interested in how political issues will affect the County.

This was a wonderful day! The Special Olympics Spring Games were held at Lackey High School. It is wonderful to see the effort that these athletes expend to be the best they can be in their events and also to see the joy and happiness in their accomplishments by both the athletes and their families. I served as Masters of Ceremony again this year and had a wonderful time.

Tonight was the St. Mary’s County Democratic Club Dinner. They had a great turnout and are a very active club. It was good to see so many friends that I worked with when I was Field Director for Senator Sarbanes.
