Chesapeake Bay Phosphorous Reduction Act of 2009

SB553 – Chesapeake Bay Phosphorous Reduction Act of 2009 came to a vote in the House after passing the Senate with a vote of  44-0.  This bill prohibits the sale of lawn fertilizer that contains more than 5% of available phosphoric acid.  The bill also establishes labeling and reporting requirements.  The House vote on this bill was 123-12.

Phosphorous is one of the elements which leads to pollution in the Bay.  If we are going to get serious about cleaning up the Bay, we must attack the problems on all fronts.
