August 4
African American Heritage Celebration at National Colonial Farm
If you have not been to see the colonial farm recently, you should do so. The farm has a lovely location. It was moving to see the rich heritage that African American’s added to our culture.

August 5
Patuxent Encounter at Jefferson-Patterson Park
Thanks to Vicki Childs and the Friends of Jefferson-Patterson Park for a wonderful celebration. This event was well attended and we saw Senator Sarbanes, State Senator Mike Miller, Delegate Sue Kullen, and Linda Kelly, Susan Shaw, and Bernie Fowler.

August 7
National Night Out - Community leaders and volunteers showed up
at 12 sites around the county to lend support to the Sheriff’s Department in fighting crime. We had volunteers at Indian Head, Waldorf, La Plata, Bryans Town, Bryan’s Road, Cobb Island and Nanjemoy. Despite the heat, everyone was enthusiastic in support of Sheriff Rex Coffey and his team.

August 11
Durham Church Parish Dinner – This was a great opportunity to See some old friends and talk about the community. Sheriff Rex
Coffey was also in attendance.

August 12
Mattawoman Art Center - What a lovely show. It is so important to show our support for art and encourage those in the community to express their talent.

August 13
4th & 5th Districts Democratic Club Larry Greenhill and his group had scheduled Peter Francot to speak and unfortunately, Francot had an emergency. It is good to reconnect with the club members and exchange ideas and views on issues both in the County and the State.
