Tonight, Delegate Jameson and I sat in with the County Commissioners at the Legislative Public Hearing. This hearing was the first chance, in this new year, that Charles County residents had to present their fully formed ideas for legislative action to the Commissioners. Ten proposals came up for consideration, and will be explored further at next week’s working session. I, personally, was happy to take this excellent opportunity to learn about citizens’ issues from the ground up. I thank all the citizens who came out on this cold evening, both those who presented and those who simply listened, because it shows just how committed you are to making this county great.

I wanted to share my support for the golf cart legislation as proposed by Don Thayer. I would appreciate updates on any developments related to this green initiative.
Mr. Hocker,
Thank you for letting me know of your interest in this proposal. There are some outstanding issues related to it that must be considered further. We do not want others to come in and vote down the proposal without our having the opportunity to make improvements to it first. Due to the timing of when it came in, the County Commissioners and the Charles County Delegation will need to work together to make it a more comprehensive plan for next year’s legislative session. This is one drawback of having only 90 days in Annapolis to complete our business.
Peter Murphy
Delegate, District 28, Charles County
