Murphy Scholarship Awards for 2007

Eight high school seniors in Charles County were awarded $1,000 scholarships for the upcoming 2008-09 school year from Delegate Peter Murphy. Representing Lackey High School are Veronica Stringer, Katie Williams, and Tafari Wilson; from LaPlata High is Danielle Gascon; from McDonough is Michelle Garner; representing Thomas Stone High are Brian Frazee and Bernice Williams; and Amy Braun attended Westllake High. All plan on attending Maryland schools.

This year’s awards were based on need, community service, scholastic standing, and career ambitions, with a special emphasis on the Arts.

The total amount of scholarship awards this year was $37,500. These awards are presented to high school seniors, present college students, graduate students, and those returning to college.
