SB98 – The Delegate John Arnick Electronic Communications Traffic Safety Act came to the House floor today for a vote. This bill generated several days of debate in the Senate before passing with a 43-4 vote. There was much debate on the House bill with the same name, HB72 which passed 133-2, and the bills are slightly different. The House has refused to concur with the Senate version and has amended the Senate version to read as the House bill. The Senate did agree with the amendments and the bill has been sent to the Governor.
This bill will make it safer for highway workers to maintain our roads and also make it safer for our children as they walk to school. I listened to the debates that this took away some personal right to speed. I see it differently; if you don’t speed, you won’t get a ticket.
