Dear Friend:

One of the most important rights and freedoms in the United States is our privilege to vote. The Maryland primary election is February 12. Last year the Maryland Legislature voted to move the date to earlier in the year so Maryland Voters would have more impact on the selection process. This is an important primary election since this is a Presidential Election Year.

I urge you to vote if you have declared for a party. If you are unaffiliated, please get involved as a poll worker or campaign for individuals who you believe reflect your views. I strongly encourage you to participate in our democratic process and become involved…because government matters; and each and every day we are reminded about the critical role it plays in our lives.

The 2008 Legislative Session of the General Assembly convened on January 9th. If you are planning a trip to Annapolis to attend a legislative session or testify at a bill hearing, please contact me. I would be glad to see you. I am also inviting you to keep in touch with me regarding those issues that are of concern to you and your family. You may contact my office at 301-858-3247 or send an e-mail to peter.murphy@house.state.md.us.

With best regards,

Sincerely,

Peter F. Murphy
