January 2011
Dear Friends:
In my second term as your representative in Annapolis, we have an exciting and important future ahead of us in confronting our economic, education, healthcare, environmental, energy, and public safety issues.
As I work on your behalf, I do so with the honor of being selected the Chair of the Charles County Delegation. I have also transferred to the Health and Government Operations Committee (HGO) and have been assigned to the Insurance and Health Facilities and Occupations Subcommittees. This transfer to HGO gives me a chance to learn more about topics that are of great import to the well being of Charles County residents and which are important mattters for our State and County.
Within the HGO Committee, Speaker Busch has created a Rural Healthcare Workgroup and has assigned me as a member. This Workgroup will track progress on decreasing physician shortages in rural areas, including potential partnerships to improve the access to quality healthcare with local universities and medical schools; examine physician reimbursement strategies, emergency room utilization; and use of the emergency medical system in rural areas of the State.
I cannot do this alone, however, and I will need your help. I want your input on what will help you most. Let me know your concerns and issues. Tell me your ideas so that I can work more effectively for you and together we can make this the best county in Maryland.
If you are visiting Annapolis during the session, please stop by and see me. Our office has moved and is now in Room 307 in the Lowe House Office Building.
I thank you always for your continuing support.
Sincerely,
Peter F. Murphy
Charles County, District 28
